Tube Accessibility Fund

  • Reference: 2014/3084
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Thank you for your answer to question 2014/2292. My constituent has been in contact again to stress that such a fund would be a public fund and would seek contributions from local authorities, businesses and individuals, as well as from consumer-contribution schemes such as at Waitrose. The idea has some cross-party support, including from Sir John Randall MP. Will you give the idea of such a fund further examination?

Red Route proposal for Pound Street, Carshalton

  • Reference: 2014/3081
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
A constituent has contacted me to raise concerns over the proposal to introduce double red lines on Pound Street in Carshalton to combat obstructive parking. The constituent points out that parking in the area is only a problem during specific local events, and that the proposal would penalise local residents. Will you reconsider the proposal, and ask TfL to work with the local authority to find parking solutions for residents during these events?

  • Reference: 2014/3078
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
I strongly support mass cycling events such as RideLondon FreeCycle, but I have received concerns that there has been insufficient support provided for volunteers leading cyclists to such events from outer London. Will you enforce cycle lanes and provide uniformed police support at problem junctions on the routes into such events in the future?

Given that ASLs provide cyclists extra time to safely depart a junction before cars, why is it TfL's policy not to provide ASLs at temporary traffic lights?

Young Person's Discount on Oyster in July/August

  • Reference: 2014/3075
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
I welcome the discount offered on peak time rail fares in London to those holding a Young Person's Railcard throughout July and August. However, this discount is only available when buying paper tickets, and is not offered on Oyster fares to those who have linked their railcard to their Oyster card. Why was this not offered, and are there plans to correct this anomaly in future?
