North & West London Light Railway

  • Reference: 2014/5174
  • Question by: Andrew Dismore
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Further to question number 2014-4340: A North & West London Light Railway could utilise many existing and some old track beds, for example a two way light rail or tram to run from Finchley Central through Mill Hill East in the disused , (but still existing almost entirely) track bed of the Northern line extension, to Mill Hill Broadway Station (and possibly on to Edgware). People could then visit Brent Cross along the Thameslink, and travel on to St Pancras or through London as far as Brighton and including Gatwick Airport, and Luton. Such a solution could further provide an...

trees in London

  • Reference: 2014/5173
  • Question by: Andrew Dismore
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Following on from your pledge to plant more trees in London. It seems that Hendon Central has been given attention whereas West Hendon has been completely ignored. Will you correct this by planting trees on TfL's A5 road starting from West Hendon up to the Hyde in Colindale.

pedestrian crossing on Finchley Lane

  • Reference: 2014/5172
  • Question by: Andrew Dismore
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
I previously asked you about the need for a pedestrian crossing on Finchley Lane, where it meets the A1. Your response said that it was likely that the length of Finchley Lane you were referring to was the responsibility of Barnet Council to consider and promote. They say that improved crossing facilities on Finchley Lane at its junction with the A1 Great North Way (e.g. the provision of a pedestrian phase (green man) at the existing traffic signals), is an issue for TfL as the first 52 metres of Finchley Lane (from its junction with A1) and the first 48...

24 hour tube service Northern line

  • Reference: 2014/5170
  • Question by: Andrew Dismore
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Your much-heralded "24 hour tube service at weekends" will, on the Northern line, only go as far as Camden Town. It is those who live beyond Camden that most need it- indeed their journey may actually start at or near Camden Town, not end there. Will you ensure that your promise is not a false one, so far as my constituents in Camden and Barnet who live north of Camden Town are concerned?

daytime bus service serving Colindale

  • Reference: 2014/5169
  • Question by: Andrew Dismore
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
With the ever-growing increase in the local population in Colindale adding a huge burden to the only direct transport link to central London, namely the tube and as there is no foreseeable prospect of the tube station capacity being increased, will TFL introduce a daytime bus service serving Colindale that links directly to central London?

BT highspeed broadband

  • Reference: 2014/5168
  • Question by: Andrew Dismore
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Many of my constituents have complained to me about not being able to access BT highspeed broadband. Their complaints have been ignored. When taken up and escalated on their behalf, including with Andrew Campling, BT London Chief Executive, the complaints remain ignored and unanswered. Will you take up with BT their arrogant treatment of Londoners in this way and ensure that reasonable complaints about lack of access are properly investigated and a reasoned answer provided, preferably explaining what will be done to enable connection to take place and the timescale for such connection?

Red Flag Cancer Signs

  • Reference: 2014/5166
  • Question by: Victoria Borwick
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Following the recent study funded by Cancer Research UK, which found that many Londoners are dismissing 'red flag' cancer signs, would you encourage Public Health England to raise awareness of this issue in order to improve cancer outcomes?

Drone Legislation

  • Reference: 2014/5164
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Do you support the view of Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector Nick Aldworth, who stated that the government needs to develop legislation concerning the criminal use of drones?

Sutton Gun Amnesty

  • Reference: 2014/5162
  • Question by: Steve O'Connell
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Following the Metropolitan Police's two week anti-gun "Amnesty", gun-owners in Sutton handed over more weapons to the Metropolitan Police than in any other borough. Do you believe there is merit in staging such an operation at more regular intervals?
