Retrofitting (2)

  • Reference: 2022/5485
  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
UK Power Networks has said that whilst solar panels do bring down carbon usage, solar panels alone are not enough to provide energy for a whole property, therefore the grid is still required. You push retrofitting as a way to promote green practices and reduce the cost of living. However, with less carbon usage there is often more energy use, and this could be putting pressure on the grid. As well as pushing retrofitting, will you consider looking at alternative energy, such as hydrogen as well as hydrogen power if the Government approve this for domestic use, like other Metro...

  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
Assembly Member Cooper outlined in the recent Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning (FREP) Committee that more could be done to promote ways that Londoners can be energy efficient at home and that this may have a better impact on reducing costs and preserving the power network than retrofitting. In your response to 2022/3217, you have outlined that you have funding available for a further 3,205 homes until March 2023, under your Warmer Homes Programme. Warmer Homes Programme (2)

  • Reference: 2022/5481
  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
You have approved the expenditure of up to £716,000 for marketing the Warmer Homes Programme. Given the current cost of living crisis, do you not think that this funding could be better used to provide direct financial support to families who need it the most? Couldn't TfL provide the required advertising at cost?

Warmer Homes Programme (1)

  • Reference: 2022/5480
  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
I am concerned that given the cost of a heat pump alone would exceed the grant payment in the Warmer Homes Programme, how do you expect Londoners who are on low incomes to be able to afford to contribute to the rest of the costs of retrofitting of this kind? Do you have a supply chain link that offers this equipment at a lower price?
