Question and Answer Session: London's Economic Recovery and Business (Supplementary) [8]

  • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
  • Meeting date: 03 March 2022
Shaun Bailey AM: Good morning, Panel. My question is directed to the Deputy Mayor. Please excuse me because I am going to have to jump about slightly with my topics. Firstly, do you think it is right that Londoners bear the cost for developing road user charging? In your answer, you made it quite clear that we are going to have to be prepared to bear this cost, do you think it is right that Londoners and Londoners alone bear that cost?

Question and Answer Session: London's Economic Recovery and Business (Supplementary) [7]

  • Question by: Peter Fortune
  • Meeting date: 03 March 2022
Peter Fortune AM: My questions are for the Deputy Mayor. It is a shame you did not take the lift with my colleague, Assembly Member Hall. Three hours in the car with the pair of you would have been enjoyable for everybody. It does, in all seriousness, go to show the fact that sometimes, despite the very necessary improvements to try to help with air quality, people do need to drive, especially in some of the outer London boroughs. With the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), that has had a real impact on some small businesses, especially...

  • Meeting date: 03 March 2022
Keith Prince AM (Deputy Chairman): My question is to Rajesh Agrawal. Do you think that the Mayor was right to insist on an inflation‑busting pay rise for London Underground, and do you think that they have shown their gratitude in putting on these strikes?

Question and Answer Session: London's Economic Recovery and Business (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Zack Polanski
  • Meeting date: 03 March 2022
Zack Polanski AM: My question is also for the Deputy Mayor. Deputy Mayor, I am certain that like myself and so many people ‑ in fact, everyone in this room ‑ you have been horrified by the nightly images we have seen on the news and on social media of the invasion of Ukraine, and I hope you will join me in saying loud and clear that refugees are welcome here. That is purely for humanitarian reasons. What I would love you to speak on, though, is what benefits new arrivals can have to London, to lift up our economy.

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Andrew Boff AM: Is it important to complete the JCVI priority list as is? To Tom Coffey.

COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [23]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Len Duvall AM: I just want to thank Tom Coffey for the way he answered Councillor [Tony] Devenish [AM] and Shaun Bailey’s [AM] questions. We do have to differentiate between the vulnerable and those that are playing on their fears with fake information, because we know this fake information and this very professionally organised information will cost lives. If people are taken in by misinformation, wrong information, people will die on the back of it. Chair, I hope we can go offline and help and support the Mayor of London and Government in combatting the sinister nature of some of...

COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [22]

  • Question by: Susan Hall
  • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Susan Hall AM: Thank you, and good morning. I will address the first one to Dr Coffey. Going on from what my colleague, Assembly Member Bailey, was saying, one of the problems we obviously have is that some of the anti-vaxxers genuinely believe what they are saying. I know there is a lot of mischief going on, but some of them do. Is there any prospect or is anybody thinking of getting them on to Zoom calls and saying, “Right, you throw what you are saying to me and we will explain to you why it is not correct”? We...

COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [21]

  • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
  • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Shaun Bailey AM: Thank you, Chair. I will talk to Dr Tom. I really want to follow up on Assembly Member Devenish’s question around what is being done to look at where this misinformation is coming from. There are certain communities, certainly my own, that actually feel like we are under attack. It feels like a very deliberate, very concerted effort to put this misinformation out into our community and I wonder if there is any work being done. I take your comment that it might be slightly outside of your purview, but can you go back and ask for...
