    • Reference: 2004/0318-1
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 13 October 2004
What will the Mayor and the London Development Agency be doing to help re-locate businesses in the Marshgate area now that planning permission for the Olympic development has been granted.
  • Colnbrook Incinerator

    • Reference: 2004/1108
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Your Waste Strategy rejects expansion of mass burn incineration so as to encourage waste reduction and recycling. What representations are you making to the West London Waste Authority, and its member boroughs, to dissuade them from agreeing to provide large volumes of waste for some 20 years for the proposed Colnbrook Incinerator, which would not be built in the absence of such agreements?
  • Middlesex University

    • Reference: 2004/1109
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
In answer to question 733/04 you said that, in an informal presentation to you, Middlesex University had emphasised that their proposed campus at Tottenham Hale was an integral part of plans for consolidation and expansion in North London. In June 04 the university decided to sell its brownfield site at Tottenham Hale in favour of expansion on green belt land at Trent Park. Will you now make clear to the university that, in general, you cannot support such an unsustainable approach to their future development?
  • Empty Homes

    • Reference: 2004/1030
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Please could you supply figures for both the total number of empty homes and the number of long term vacancies (more than 6 months) in London for the following years: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004?
  • Crossrail

    • Reference: 2004/1036
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Can the main Crossrail tunnel be excavated solely from the two portals, instead of with the addition of an intermediate tunnelling shaft, as proposed? Is it not unjust and discriminatory to locate such a shaft (and associated waste transfer station) in the densely populated area of Spitalfields rather than one of the business areas (such as Liverpool Street) which stands to gain so much from Crossrail?
  • Tram stop outside Centrale Shopping Centre

    • Reference: 2004/1017
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Has any progress been made on getting a tram stop outside the Centrale shopping center in Croydon? How did a situation arise whereby a major development like this has a 1,000 space car park, but no guarantee of an immediate tram stop? Are there general lessons to be drawn about the planning process and the funding of transport infrastructure, which arise from the problems with getting private sector funding for this tram stop?
  • Allotments

    • Reference: 2004/1029
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Given the multiple benefits of allotment gardening, including access to affordable healthy food and outdoor physical exercise for all ages, do you agree that clear policy guidance is needed to: (i) ensure that major development areas include allotment provision; and (ii) remedy the poor provision of allotments in inner London boroughs?

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
In June last year you set a target for boroughs to return 3500 empty homes to use? Please clarify whether this figure is a net or gross figure? Was the target met? Have you set a new target?
  • Empty Homes

    • Reference: 2004/1032
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Are you worried by new data from the ONS which appears to show that the key measure of long term vacancies increased in the year to April 2003? Does this diminish the claimed success of the empty homes initiative in June 03?
  • Empty Homes

    • Reference: 2004/1033
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2004
Will you be continuing your empty homes initiative? Will you be publishing an empty homes report in 2004? Will you be seeking to increase resources for the initiative?
