    • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
    • Meeting date: 28 June 2017
Len Duvall AM: Thank you very much. To go back to the most challenging issue and just briefly about what, Mike, you said around technology and when technology becomes available, we know that that is constantly evolving and speeding up in some cases. Val, in answer to the question from Assembly Member Bailey, you talked about how this document really is what is in the business plan we are concentrating on and you have no long‑term plans, but in the direction of travel of the document it is quite clear you are supporting the Assembly Transport Committee’s plans for road...

Will you take up the recommendations of the Met Challenge 2020 Youth Engagement report by Byron Grant which calls for the Metropolitan Police to provide skills sessions for police officers in how to communicate with young people?
  • Access to primary and community health care (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2014
Joanne McCartney AM: I was just going to pick up on something you said earlier, that when we are changing any aspect of the health system it is essential that we build the trust and confidence of the public and patients. We have all been out supporting our local hospitals that are at risk of closure, and it is very emotive when you talk about changing healthcare provision. I know from my experience of ChaseFarm, for example, that one of the requirements of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel was that primary care and access to primary and community care had to...

Murad Qureshi AM: I am just going to bring up issues around the A&E services in London. Is not the ongoing all-year crisis with A&E services in London good evidence that we need pan-London leadership to get the situation under control?

  • Grant Settlement (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 10 December 2003
I will return to the politics of the situation in a moment. Firstly, can I ask Sir John for his professional take on the situation? Previously you were eloquently talking about the national responsibilities of the Met and our specific grant covering those of £200 million or so, is rising by 2.5%, less than the rate of inflation. I would really welcome your insight as to what you think the Government is up to. Given the stress we are under in London because of our national and international responsibilities why does central Government not seem to be recognising that, from...
  • Young People (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 10 December 2003
Graham Tope (AM): I do not think any of us would want to suggest that this was an issue solely for the Met to deal with; I took that as a given. Toby mentioned earlier the issue of bullying. Quite often bullying of young people whether inside or outside school is regarded as something that is part of growing up. Is that the attitude that the Met takes, and if it is not as I hope, how do you work with local authorities and other agencies to address the issue of bullying amongst young people?
  • Young People (Supplementary) [7]

  • Young People (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Diana Johnson

Diana Johnson (AM): It is about the Cadet Corps. As the link member for Havering, Barking and Dagenham I have been very impressed by their Cadet Corps. What do you think is the future for the Cadet Corps?
