Question
Question and Answer Session: London Legacy Development Corporation (Supplementary) [6]
Susan Hall AM: Thank you. I will be very brief. Lyn, at the December [2022] Budget and Performance [Committee] meeting, I asked you whether you would ask the Mayor to get more involved in the search for a Stadium sponsor. What progress have you made on that?
Answer
Lyn Garner (Chief Executive, London Legacy Development Corporation): Yes. We regularly speak to the Mayor through his Chief of Staff. The Mayor is very willing to get involved in the search for a Stadium sponsor. We have agreed that as soon as we feel that that is appropriate, he will get involved. We have quite a lot of activity in sponsorship of the Park and Stadium going on at the moment. As soon as we think it is appropriate, we will ask the Mayor to get involved with that. He has agreed to do so.
Susan Hall AM: He has agreed to you. You said - and I am reading from the transcript, “I will tell you what? Why do I not ask the Mayor what he thinks about getting involved?”
Lyn Garner (Chief Executive, London Legacy Development Corporation): Yes. We have done that, and he has agreed that, as soon as it is appropriate, he will be very willing to get involved and help us.
Susan Hall AM: It never seems to be appropriate, though, does it, Lyn? We have been going on about this for years and we are always fobbed off. I will leave it there because of time, Chair.
