Question

London's democratic deficit (Supplementary) [2]

I think you are diverting the question here. That is what you are very good at, I have to say. Every time we ask for information we are told we cannot have it. We then have to make a Freedom of Information request which takes endless time to do. The supply of information is like getting blood out of a stone, particularly from your office.

Answer

There is a question later on about how much more Liberal Democrat policy will I steal. Part of your problem has been I have followed a broadly consensual agenda. The Conservatives are broadly opposed to it but it covers most of Green policy and most Liberal Democrat policy and there is a big progressive consensus in London. If you had a Mayor following a very narrow sectarian agenda the Assembly would come into its own. If you had a Mayor who was genuinely corrupt you would come into your own. It is much more difficult to make headway when, broadly, there is hardly anything I am doing which is not Liberal Democrat policy or Green policy. There are small margins where we disagree. Therefore it is difficult. What do you want me to do, be divisive just so you can have a more effective role?
