Question
London Health Board
Can you provide an update on the work of the London Health Board?
Answer
The London Health Board (LHB) remains an important forum where health and care leaders work together to improve the health and wellbeing of Londoners. This includes oversight of the priorities within the London Health and Care Vision, for example: reducing childhood obesity, improving air quality, reducing violence, improving the health of people who are homeless, preventing HIV and STIs, supporting people who have dementia, addressing health and care workforce issues and supporting the mental health of Londoners.
The LHB has continued to have action on health inequalities at its core. Tackling structural racism has become an important focus and the LHB has recently appointed Marie Gabriel as a champion for this work.
Responding to the urgency of the cost of living crisis, a task and finish group has recently been established to drive forward action, informed by the recent Institute for Health Equity evidence review: Health Equity in England: The Marmot Review 10 Years On - The Health Foundation .
