Question
Food Insecurity (1)
What measures are you implementing to ensure that your Free School Meals initiative does not hinder schools accurately identifying eligible pupils for the pupil premium?
Answer
I recognise the importance of ensuring pupil premium registrations do not fall. How a borough or school chooses to promote registration for the national Government Free School Meals scheme is for agreement locally, but my officers are supporting them to maintain or increase registrations. City Hall are encouraging best practice in how to promote registration to families, including universal registration. Resources and support are being shared with boroughs and schools via webinars, and an online resource hub on the London.gov website.
My team will continue to promote registration across many of our pan London channels. This includes within a letter I have written to all families who will be impacted by the initiative.
Officers are drafting a response.
