Answer
Date: Wednesday 16 January 2008
It was not a prediction; it was a maximum number that we had agreed funding for between British Gas and ourselves. Clearly this is a campaign that is in its infancy. We are learning lots of lessons, British Gas is learning lots of lessons and I hope that we will be able to ramp it up in the future.
Similarly, on the light bulb amnesty we did not make a prediction that 60% of Londoners would take up the offer; indeed we did not make provision for 60% of Londoners to be able to take up the offer. We made available about 200,000 light bulbs in total. The figures that I have this morning - which are not the final figures - are that 80,000 were given away on Saturday and Sunday.
