‘Difficult choices’ for funding LFB in 2025-26
In his manifesto, the Mayor committed to “ensure there are no cuts to the London Fire Brigade (LFB) frontline and no fire station closures.”1
However, the London Fire Commissioner’s (LFC) Budget Submission states that the flexibility reserve is now ‘exhausted’, so difficult choices are required in prioritising services.2
With demand on the services of the London Fire Brigade (LFB) evolving, the total number of incidents attended by the LFB increasing and with fires accounting for a declining proportion of those incidents, how will the LFB prioritise services in 2025-26?3
The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will tomorrow question the LFB on its 2025-26 budget, including its financial sustainability and financing its culture change.
Guests include:
- Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor for Fire and Resilience
- Andy Roe KFSM, Commissioner, LFB
- Mostaque Ahmed, Director of Corporate Services, LFB
The meeting will take place on Tuesday 7 January from 1pm, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
