FOI - Africa trade mission [Aug 2025]

Your request 

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting access to financial records relating to the Mayor of London’s official visit to Lagos, Nigeria in or around July 2025.

Specifically, I request:

1. The total cost incurred by public funds for the Mayor’s trip to Lagos.
2. A breakdown of costs under the following headings (if held in this format):

• Flights and transport (Mayor and staff)
• Accommodation
• Security
• Venue or meeting space hire
• External consultancy or logistical support
• Staff subsistence, expenses, or per diems
• Public relations or promotional materials (if applicable)

1. The number of staff or officials who accompanied the Mayor and, where available, the total cost attributed to staff travel and accommodation.
2. Details of any third-party or private sector contributions, sponsorships, or offsets that were used to co-fund or subsidise the trip.

Our response

1. We do not yet hold the final costs, once these have been reconciled we will publish them on our Disclosure Log here.

3. The number of staff who accompanied the Mayor was 10 in Nigeria and Ghana, and 11 in South Africa

4. No private sector contributions, sponsorships, or offsets were used to co-fund or subsidise the trip.
