Skills for Londoners Capital Fund

Up to £82 million is available for investment into estate and equipment for London's skills providers over the next three years. The aim of this fund is to:

  • respond to current and future skills requirements of employers and learners, improve quality of provision and learner satisfaction, progression and success rates
  • support increased levels of apprenticeship delivery and/or progression to the highest levels of vocational and technical study
  • establish strong and innovative partnerships with employers and local stakeholders

Round 2 is now open - apply by 1 October 2018

Round 2 launched on 29 August 2018 with a new prospectus for projects requesting between £200k and £10m grant investment.

This round is being fully managed through the Authority’s online investment management system (GLA OPS).

If your organisation is not already registered, you need to register with GLA OPS by completing the steps below. This includes applications for capital funding through the Mayor's Construction Academy (MCA). Please note there is no upper or lower limit for project grant request amounts for MCA and they will be will be assessed on a case by case basis.

If your organisation is already registered, you can simply use your current login information.

To apply to the Fund, log in to GLA OPS, create a new project, complete all required information and submit your project by midday on 1 October 2018.

Simply complete the following steps:

  1. register as a new organisation and admin account at
  2. click on ‘New to GLA OPS? Register here’
  3. provide the required information and make sure to select ‘GLA Regeneration Unit’ under the GLA department section
  4. click on ‘Request New Profile’

Am I eligible?

To apply for this fund you must be:

  • an approved training organisation or FE college that is on the Register of Approved Training Providers and/or Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers
  • in receipt of funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency to deliver education or training in 2018/19 and/or expects to hold a contract in future years
What type of projects will be funded?

We want to see projects that show innovation in:

  • partnerships with employers and local stakeholders in the design and delivery of provision
  • approaches to delivery which deliver social, economic and environmental benefits
  • place making and high quality design, strengthening links with local communities

How much can I apply for?

From £200k to £10m per project from a pot of £82m is available in Round 2.

Up to £7.2m of the £82m pot has been ring-fenced for investment in construction skills training facilities and equipment under the Mayor's Construction Academy. This element of the funding is only available to MCA quality-marked providers, more detail on eligibility is available in the FAQs.
