The 2022 Grow Back Greener Fund awarded £2m to 56 community projects to plant trees to provide shade, create and enhance green space and increase climate resilience. This year's fund has two themed strands: green spaces and waterways and tree planting.

The fund prioritised projects in areas of the city with low tree canopy cover, where Londoners live further than a 10-minute walk from green space and at high climate risk.

Projects include new woodlands, community orchards, creating new green spaces, sustainable urban drainage, new wetlands and greening school grounds and housing estates. By January 2024, these projects will have planted around 14,000 trees, improved 13 hectares of green space and involved almost 14,000 Londoners as volunteers and trainees.

Find out more about the projects below or read about previous projects funded through the 2020 and 2021 rounds of the Grow Back Greener Fund.
