Salusbury Primary School 2020/21
Relentless focus from the whole team on every child’s outcomes.
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Historic underachievement arising from inconsistent teaching and a poorly planned curriculum offer.
What actions did you take?
- We reorganised and carefully planned our curriculum.
- Focused on teacher training to support the development of secure subject knowledge.
- Used the skills of talented teachers to coach less confident colleagues to ensure consistency across the year groups.
- We made sure that the curriculum was current, coherent and cohesive. Subject leaders collaborated to develop carefully designed teaching sequences that are clear and easy to use.
- Forensic attention to assessment and prior attainment. Identifying and removing barriers to progress for every child.
- Increased focus on SEND children to ensure all pupils have the most effectual provision. Our progress meetings are extremely effective and support teachers to ensure that the most successful strategies are deployed in and out of class.
What were the outcomes?
Strong outcomes both for progress and for attainment in all subjects. An award-winning curriculum. A kind, compassionate and happy community.
