London Lead Teachers in Financial Education
PFEG provided training to help teachers deliver financial education and engage students in mathematics learning.
PFEG, Part of Young Enterprise
The project aimed to improve mathematical attainment by training teachers to deliver mathematical learning within a greater financial context. The project was delivered in 26 secondary schools, reaching 827 secondary teachers through London wide dissemination events. Findings showed that students were able to substantially improve their mathematical attainment when answering questions which used a financial context. Teachers and students self reported that this was because there was a better understanding of the financial context of the question which allowed the students to better access the maths. Teachers valued the effectiveness of this method and 100% of participants have incorporated it into their school's maths curriculum.
