24 Hour London

Find out what we're doing to create a fair, prosperous, safe and sustainable 24 hour city.

Our vision for London at night

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has launched London's first ever 24-hour London vision.

This vision sets out the Mayor’s plan to turn London into a leading 24-hour global city, it focuses on building a night-time culture which:

  • promotes culture and leisure for all ages and interests
  • increases opening hours
  • ensures safety for residents, visitors and night-time workers
  • works closely with boroughs and the police to create a balanced and sustainable night time offer

The Mayor has already launched the first ever Night Tube service at weekends and he also has plans to protect pubs, music venues, LGBT+ venues.

Using this vision, the Night Time Commission and the Night Czar Amy Lamé will now work with industry experts on bringing the vision to life.

How do we create a fair, diverse and sustainable 24 hour city?

The inaugural London at Night conference was held in January 2023. The conference was supported by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and held in Woolwich, one of three of the Mayor’s Night Time Enterprise Zones.

At the event, attendees shared their knowledge and insights about cities at night. They explored how London can make the most of its opportunities – and address key challenges – to thrive in the face of change. The discussions around safety, equity, diversity and sustainability were also captured on the day by a live illustrator.
