London Nightlife Taskforce
Protecting, retaining and growing London’s nightlife
London’s nightlife is known around the world for its vibrancy, diversity and constant evolution.
It is a significant economic driver for the city and a major drawcard for residents and tourists alike. London at night is also a powerhouse of activity, with nearly 1.4 million people working at night.
However, our city’s nightlife is under pressure, with growing challenges for businesses and customers.
To identify solutions that can help protect, retain and grow nightlife in London, the Mayor has asked representatives from across London’s diverse nightlife businesses and communities to join an independent taskforce.
Together, they will examine and address the issues facing our city’s nighttime hospitality and culture, consulting widely and delivering evidence-based recommendations to the Mayor.

Members of the London Nightlife Taskforce
About the Taskforce
The London Nightlife Taskforce will bring together London’s nightlife communities, businesses, stakeholders and the public to create an action plan for the capital’s nightlife.
An independent body, the Taskforce will work with researchers, partners and the public to explore challenges, levers and potential solutions for London’s nightlife.
This work will include gathering data and consulting widely to ensure we have an up-to-date and accurate snapshot of the opportunities and challenges for London’s nightlife.
As a collective voice for London’s nightlife, the Taskforce will present their findings and recommendations to the Mayor, identifying actions, policies and programmes the Mayor and nightlife stakeholders can take together to retain and grow a thriving London at night.
In collaboration with VibeLab, the Taskforce launched a major new research project to explore and support the evolution of London’s nightlife.
Through a survey, they reached out to business owners, industry professionals and nightlife goers as well as anyone who is passionate about the future of London’s nightlife.
Thoughts, ideas and experiences around the challenges facing London’s nightlife were collected via the survey and additional research methods with additional engagement events taking place. Findings will be presented to the Mayor later in the year.
