Biography
Stephen leads the Scrutiny and Investigation team, which supports the London Assembly’s work to hold the Mayor to account and investigate issues that matter to Londoners.
Stephen has extensive experience across business, government and civil society. He worked as an economist and policy adviser in central and local government before spending more than a decade in consulting and corporate responsibility roles at PwC.
Stephen studied Economics at the University of West London and is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
Responsibilities
Responsible for leading and co-ordinating a strong, effective Member-led scrutiny and investigation process that provides value for money from the Assembly budget, through the development of the work of the London Assembly’s scrutiny committees. Ensuring outstanding performance from the Scrutiny function and leading a comprehensive, co-ordinated programme of scrutiny reviews, in order to:
- influence the development of the Mayor’s strategies, decisions and policies
- monitor and review performance and service delivery of the Greater London Authority and Functional Bodies
- enhance the impact and reputation of the London Assembly, using feedback from London government stakeholders, the media and the public.
