Responsible for leading a high quality, effective and responsive human resources and organisational development function, taking overall leadership on all HR and organisational development issues and oversight of leading key projects and people related activity across the GLA group.
Accountable for organisational development (including leadership, management development and staff engagement) in the GLA to ensure the GLA has the workforce capabilities and agility to satisfy its short, medium and long term objectives.
Biography
Raj was born and raised in West London prior to emigrating to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada when she was 17 and returning to London in her mid 20’s. She has held several Board and Executive Director roles in London and the home counties and is the former Interim Group Director of People at Barts Health NHS and the National lead: Engaging and Supporting People Leaders & Human Resource Directors at NHS England and Improvement. Prior to joining NHS England & Improvement, she was an interim Director of People & OD in the Hertfordshire and West Essex system, formerly at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust and latterly at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. She has enjoyed a broad and diverse career in the public and private sectors, including three years as a Director in the People and Organisation practice at PwC. Raj holds a BA (English and Sociology) from the University of British Columbia, Canada; an MSc Leadership in Human Resources from UMIST (with international electives at Harvard and ERASMUS), and is a chartered fellow of the CIPD as well as a Non Executive Director with Slough Children’s First and a Trustee of The Staff College. She has two grown up children and lives in Buckinghamshire.
