Biography

Tom joined the GLA in 2001, having previously worked for the National Audit Office and the Audit Commission on value for money studies.

He has held a number of roles in the GLA, starting off in the scrutiny team – where he supported the Environment and Budget Committees – and subsequently moving to a performance reporting / special projects role in the old Finance & Performance directorate. Tom carried out a couple of transitional roles during the period in which the second Mayor of London took over from the first Mayor of London before becoming Head of Governance in 2011.

In 2018 Tom’s role widened to become Assistant Director, Finance & Governance. He is CIPFA qualified and has developed a degree of expertise on GLA Act issues. The Finance & Governance unit is 33 strong and leads on internal budgeting issues, decision making, the GLA’s statutory accounts, corporate performance and governance issues and information governance advice on freedom of information and data protection matters.
