Biography
Halima, working in a job-share with Sarah Mulley, is responsible for overseeing the delivery and implementation of the Mayor’s priorities and strategies in policy areas including skills and employment, social integration, equality and fairness, health and education, volunteering, sport and food. Sarah and Halima also oversee the work of the Community Engagement Team.
Prior to joining the GLA, Halima was an Executive Director at Nesta, an innovation foundation which uses funding, research, networks and skills to help solve social challenges. Halima led Nesta’s work on health and wellbeing. Prior to Nesta, Halima worked on public service reform in central and local government, as well as internationally. Between 2007 and 2010 Halima was Deputy Director in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, Cabinet Office. Halima has also been a trustee for Diabetes UK and an Advisory Council member of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the management and development of the functions allotted to the GLA’s Communities and Skills directorate including, Skills and Employment, Health, Education and Youth, Team London and Community Sport and Communities and Social Policy.
