  • Lack of Toilet Dignity for London Bus Drivers: Missing/Inaccurate Data (2)

    • Reference: 2022/2676
    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 21 July 2022
According to your response to Question 2021/4900: “there are currently three known routes – R2, 286 and 394 – where access to toilets is not available for all hours of the operating day. One of these (route 286) has a temporary toilet installed because access to the previously available facilities has not been possible due to pandemic restrictions. TfL will review access to staff facilities for route 286 when this changes. Facilities for routes R2 and 394 are currently in detailed design and, subject to funding and planning negotiations, will be built in 2022”. However, route 394 does not appear...
  • Lack of Toilet Dignity for London Bus Drivers: Guaranteeing Proposed Bus Route Changes will fix Toilet Provision for Bus Drivers

    • Reference: 2022/2677
    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 21 July 2022
Correlating the list of routes being proposed to be altered/cut with routes without adequate toilet provision (provided in your responses to question 2022/0787, question 2022/0786 and question 2021/4900) shows that 3 bus routes with 1 toilet or a 150 minute round-trip between loos (“Priority 3”) are proposed to be changed, one of which (Route 328) doesn’t look like it will add a toilet and that 3 bus routes with only a toilet at one end are proposed to be changed, and 1 change (Route 3, a “Priority 3") is to another bus route (Route 87) without a toilet at one...
  • Lack of Toilet Dignity for London Bus Drivers: Changing Bus Routes to Accommodate Toilet Provision for Bus Drivers

    • Reference: 2022/2678
    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 21 July 2022
Of the 180 bus routes that we know from questions 2022/0787, 2022/0786 and 2021/4900 lack ‘Toilet Dignity’ for bus drivers, even after the proposed bus route changes, at least 171 bus routes—over 25% of all London bus routes—will remain with a toilet only at one end, including 10 routes considered Priority 3 and an additional 3 where “access to toilets is not available at all hours of the day”. Will you consider making immediate changes to these 171 bus routes to ensure that toilets will be made available to bus drivers at both ends?
  • Lack of Toilet Dignity: Women Drivers on Bus Routes without Toilets

    • Reference: 2022/2686
    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 21 July 2022
In your much delayed and unhelpful response to question 2022/0147, you specifically stated “Across the network around 10 per cent of bus drivers are female”. Please provide me with the percentage of female drivers for each of the 180 bus routes you have indicated lack toilets or access to toilets in your responses to questions 2022/0787, 2022/0786 and 2021/4900.
  • Lack of Toilet Facilities for Bus Drivers on Routes R2, 286 and 384.

    • Reference: 2022/0146
    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 20 January 2022
In your response to question 2021/4900 you cited “three known routes – R2 and 286 [operated by Go Ahead London] and 394 [operated by HCT London] – where access to toilets is not available for all hours of the operating day”. Given you have been TfL Chairman for over 5 years, how can you justify TfL allowing a bus contractor to provide a bus service where no toilet is available for the bus driver. Accordingly, as TfL Chairman, what will you do to resolve this unacceptable situation?
