Answer for Lewisham children's services

Answered By:
The Mayor

I applaud the work of the London Borough of Lewisham, its schools and voluntary organisations in raising the educational attainment of African-Caribbean pupils. My London Schools and the Black Child conference on 8 December 2007 will again bring together a range of concerned parents, teachers and policy-makers in setting the agenda for improving the educational outcomes for African-Caribbean children in London. The conference will again highlight good practice undertaken by local schools and community organisations through the supplementary school movement, as well as celebrating the many achievements of the initiative.
