Regeneration projects: stewardship
Many town centres and high streets are successful because volunteer groups work together. The Mayor and partners support a range of organisations, for example:
- town teams: these often include landlords, business owners, council members, the local MP and residents
- Traders Associations: boost local businesses as active traders help to energise others along the high street and support new traders
- Business Improvement Districts (BIDs): nurture strong partnerships between the local authority and the business community. BIDs plan improvements, market the area and provide services to benefit local trade. They often take on the role of town centre stewards, raising the standard of presentation
