Aurora Centre
South Thames College received funding from the Education Funding Agency to build Aurora; a specialist centre for 16-25 year olds with autistic spectrum disorders and complex needs, offering bespoke educational opportunities.
How does this show what we're looking for?
The project provides:
- individually tailored programmes enable the students to develop and strengthen skills for every day and working life
- specialist staff such as speech and language therapists and specialists in Deaf education will support students in their learning
This project demonstrates best practice because:
- students have access to a range of programmes based around personal and social development such as cooking, art, drama, work experience and travel training
- students are supported to progress onto further college courses, ensuring a sustainable education offer
