London Talent Pathways
Key information
About the fund
The London Talent Pathways Fund aims to provide Londoners with vocational training so they can upskill and get priority jobs in London's key sectors. It combines funding from the Adult Skills Fund and Free Courses for Jobs.
Currently, London's jobs and skills systems are complex and disjointed. Many employers struggle to find workers with the skills they need. Meanwhile Londoners, especially those who are young, disabled, or have health conditions, miss out on opportunities.
With the London Talent Pathways Fund, we're investing in training that helps Londoners find pathways into priority jobs in key sectors, as identified in the London Growth Plan and the Local Skills Improvement Plans. The fund is strategically aligned to support the priorities of the Mayor's London Growth Plan and vision for a new employer-led Inclusive Talent System.
The fund will help London's jobs and skills sector:
- prioritise its skill provisions for low-income or unemployed Londoners and those who are under-represented in key sectors to meet the objectives of the London Growth Plan
- improve outcomes by supporting an employer-led Adult Skill Fund delivery model, where employers regularly share insights on the skills they need and jobs and skills services are better shaped around those needs
- encourage stronger, long-term partnerships between training providers and employers to co-design future learning offers and invest in the training required to close the skills gaps in London’s key sectors
- shape effective career pathways within priority jobs and give clear routes for Londoners who are currently excluded from the job market or facing barriers to progression.
What the fund supports
London Talent Pathways will focus on helping Londoners get the skills they need to find jobs, move up in their current roles, get closer to employment by taking higher-level courses. It will especially focus on:
- young Londoners aged 19 to 23
- Londoners from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities
- Londoners with no or lower-level (without a level 2) qualifications
- Londoners in low-paid work (earning less than the London Living Wage)
- Londoners who are out of work
- disabled Londoners
- older Londoners aged 50 and over
