Woodberry Down Community Primary School
High Expectations & High Attainment, for all Socioeconomic Circumstances
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Data analysis identified a baseline attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
Teacher assessments recorded lower starting points for our EAL pupils.
What actions did you take?
A rigorous and consistent intervention cycle, informed by our data tracking, to ensure that pupils 'keep up, not catch up' with class learning. Our pupil premium funding allows us to emplace differentiated tuition groups across the school, with high quality tutoring provision. Integrating digital learning in all lessons catalyses pupil access to learning, and ensures high levels of engagement from our pupils across the curriculum.
EAL pupils are comprehensively supported through 'communication in print' strategies and differentiated reading groups, funded by our pupil premium grant. Through green-screening, mathematical reasoning workshops and talk-for-writing interventions, EAL pupils benefit from consistent opportunities to practice and review their spoken and written English.
What were the outcomes?
Disadvantaged and EAL pupils' attainment and progress in both key stages are either higher or equal to their peers.
