To raise attainment and progress of SEND pupils
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Following on from assessment weeks and pupil progress meetings, it was evident that SEND pupils were not making the expected progress when compared to their peers.
What actions did you take?
-Specialist ASD teacher to create individual education plans to support the different needs of our pupils.
-Inclusion manager responded to referrals made by class teachers: carried out observations of pupils, carried out assessments and diagnosed (where appropriate) and made further referrals. Interventions were then created to support the pupils.
-Moderate Learning Difficulty teacher intervened at an early stage, planning and teaching to meet the individual needs.
-Various extracurricular activities such as horse riding, swimming, soft-play sessions on a weekly basis to nurture the SEND pupils.
What were the outcomes?
SEND pupils made accelerated progress from their different starting points.
