Trinity St Mary's CofE Primary School
Raising aspirations for all children regardless of background
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Our school has a large population of disadvantaged pupils, which is far higher than the local or national average, which affected our children's attainment and progress.
What actions did you take?
The success that children have across the school, which include disadvantaged, EAL & SEN pupils, is because staff have a secure understanding of each individual child's strengths and weaknesses based on sharp analysis of information about pupil's progress. Staff identified starting points & targeted personalised interventions to raise attainment and progress for every child. This is fundamental to the achievements of children & staff. Introducing reading carousels raised engagement & enjoyment. Quality first teaching closed gaps from previous years and extra after school and Easter school sessions continued to support children with additional needs e.g. EAL & SEN. Our strong curriculum allows children to develop skills in a range of contexts, empowering them with skills needed for life.
What were the outcomes?
Our school has been identified as exceptional for helping low achieving children achieve great things!
