What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Through data analysis:
- Reading and Writing
- Low baseline at the start of school
- 78% EAL pupils
- More SEND pupils
What actions did you take?
- Quality First Teaching.
- Effective CPD (school closes to pupils an hour early on Mondays, allowing for extra good quality CPD time for staff).
- Appointed a Black Caribbean Achievement Champion to raise the aspirations of Black Caribbean pupils.
- Early identification of needs and support needed.
- Specialist SEND and behaviour support (Tailored Curriculum, Rainbow Room, Learning Empowerment Achievement Programme - LEAP).
- Pupil Progress Discussions (PPD) meetings with focused attention on underachievement.
What were the outcomes?
The school is in the top 5% of schools nationally for its value added and progress measures.
