St Patrick's School 2018/19
Good progress for low achieving pupils on entry
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
High percentage of pupils in EYFS and KS1 achieve below age-related expectations in assessments on entry and at the end of KS1.
What actions did you take?
There was an initial identification of gaps in knowledge and skills. As a result, staff ensured that Teaching and Learning environments enriched and addressed the needs of all learners.
Processes were put in place for the early identification of needs and for staff to work collaboratively with outside agencies, for example, Speech and Language Therapists.
The progress of all learners was closely tracked and data was used to inform Teaching and Learning. Learners were part of this process with regular opportunities for ‘Pupil Conferencing’.
Support and challenge was integral throughout. There was a high expectation that all pupils would achieve their full potential.
What were the outcomes?
Learners starting school and leaving KS1 behind their peers, make better than expected progress
