What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Poor attainment and progress
  • Gaps in pupils' knowledge
  • Mobility, particularly in UKS2
  • Pupils with SEMH and/or complex needs

What actions did you take?

  • The key priority for our school was to ensure all actions were mutually beneficial, with no actions taken in isolation.
  • Employment of a Learning Mentor to support pupils' emotional and mental wellbeing
  • Organisation of targeted 28 clubs based on pupils' interests
  • Investment in technological equipment to support interventions and extended learning outside school hours.
  • Use of additional teachers
  • Investment in physical resources / manipulatives
  • Investment in books, to encourage a love of reading
  • A focused, broad curriculum, where learning is connected
  • Regular pupils, parent/carer and staff surveys to identify and address needs rapidly
  • Investment in Staff Professional Development to ensure the highest quality teaching
  • Focused, regular monitoring and tracking of pupils' progress and attainment
  • Engagement with parents

What were the outcomes?

  • Pupils above / significantly above national average
  • Data shows excellent progress
  • Attendance and punctuality show consistent improvements
  • Positive feedback
