Southern Road Primary School
The disadvantaged pupils were not making good progress
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
In scrutinising our results, we noticed that the majority of the low attaining pupils in KS1 were our disadvantaged pupils
What actions did you take?
We planned a programme of focussed activities centring on what the identified pupils needed and supported this with additional part-time teachers and teaching assistants. We used our Family Support worker to work with the identified families to support further learning at home.
What were the outcomes?
In 2016 our prior low attaining pupils gained a progress score of 14.38 in reading.
