What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
*Children entering with baselines significantly below expected levels
*High Mobility
*High levels of families with socio-economic disadvantage
*High % of EAL pupils
*Lack of parental involvement, including language barriers
What actions did you take?
*Rigorous tracking at 6 weekly pupil progress meetings.
*Gap analysis identifying individual needs and intervention programmes implemented
*A four teacher model across two classes for core subjects
*Booster group programmes throughout the year including after school, February half term and Easter. Booster programmes at local secondary school for targeted pupils.
*Homework clubs for pupils alongside their parents
*Implemented the Creative Curriculum to inspire and engage pupils. This included half termly visits, wow days, in school experiences, practical activities and Aspirations Week. Pupils also worked with Into University graduates from a range of professions in order to raise aspirations.
*Targeted pupil wellbeing through access to creative therapies, Learning Mentors and local community group leaders.
What were the outcomes?
Accelerated progress exceeding National Averages, especially for lower prior attaining pupils.
Pupil voice demonstrated increased confidence, motivation and self-esteem.
