What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
- EAL students identified by entry tests
- Students who struggle to engage with their learning effectively
What actions did you take?
- Compulsory after school intervention and independent study sessions for all students every day, smaller group support for LPAs where appropriate.
- Every year 11 student has a mentor to guide and support them throughout the year.
- Targeted students also had an SLT mentor for specific academic mentoring.
- Ensuring outstanding teaching and learning in every lesson.
- Access to Hegarty Maths for all with weekly updates
- SLT holiday homework checks at start of each term and half-term.
- All students provided with centralised booklet of knowledge organisers for every subject and taught how to self-quiz effectively.
- Students given centralised weekly core knowledge quizzes.
- Comprehensive parent information evenings, followed up with many parent meetings and parents evenings.
- Relentless focus on attendance and punctuality.
What were the outcomes?
A progress 8 score of 1.27 for LPAs
