What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Students had:
- Low self -esteem
- Low socio-economic backgrounds
- Poor communication skills
- Undiagnosed SEN needs
- Poor social interaction skills
These were identified during home visits and their induction.
What actions did you take?
- Ensured parents and pupils knew they were part of a nurturing and supportive environment on entry
- Created new initiatives to support our community overall
- Enabled inspiring teaching through a creative curriculum, designed by teaching staff
- Implemented a transparent fair behaviour system to achieve consistency
- Ensured all teaching staff shared vision and aims to improve the aspirations of our pupils
- Implemented effective support programmes for underperforming pupils throughout the school, identified through termly assessment meetings involving all teaching staff
- Created Individual support programmes for identified vulnerable children and groups
What were the outcomes?
No vulnerable groups underperformed.
Pupils from low starts made progress in top 6% of London schools.
