What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Very high mobility
Mid-phase admissions (123 new pupils in the last year ) with little English and little schooling
Very passive with low parental engagement
What actions did you take?
Ensure every pupil has quality first teaching; all needs met.
Engaging curriculum building on prior learning.
All children assessed regularly.
Children not meeting expected progress from prior key assessment points are discussed at pupil progress meetings with the head teacher, AHT (assessment), AHT (inclusion)Year group leader and class teacher. Plans are then drawn up which are followed up weekly by Year Group leaders.
5th teacher KS2 year groups; rapid progress groups;1:1and group interventions; booster groups, 1:1 tuition; free places at wraparound care; pastoral support worker explores barriers to learning
All school visits and clubs paid for to support LCC, Brilliant Club; Poetry Retreats; debate league, Mayor's challenges; children's university; work week.
What were the outcomes?
Engaged learners and motivated teachers
Improved national test results year on year
Excellent outcomes for pupils moving to secondary school.
