What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

o To create a new school with a bold vision: the highest aspirations and outcomes for all.

o To gain buy-in from community/parents/students/staff

o To achieve an aim and build upon this aim.

What actions did you take?

o Developed a shared vision and ensured that it underpinned every policy/action

o A curriculum with depth and challenge

o Conducted home visits for every child and built partnerships with families

o Developed a truly growth mindset culture, reflected in the language used and our interactions with students and each other

o Built a unique and powerful programme for developing character and learning power - BRIDGES (Bravery, Resourcefulness, Integrity, Discovery, Grit, Emotional Intelligence, Self-Discipline)

o Appointed only the best teachers and gave them great CPD opportunities

o A relentless focus on data; rigorously evaluating it and intervening promptly

o Tight structures and routines to support excellent behaviour for learning

o Developed great leadership at all levels

o Meticulous planning.

What were the outcomes?

2017 P8 score was +0.97, placing INA 35th out of all UK secondary schools (in top 1%) for progress/value added.
