Hayes Primary School 2018/19
Ensuring that gaps are identified, targeted and reviewed
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Several of the children with lower starting points had a special education need that required specific strategies to ensure that they made accelerated progress during key stage 2.
What actions did you take?
We worked with the children in smaller groups to make sure that their needs were met. Teaching was adapted to meet their needs and their learning continuously reviewed to ensure that their next steps were meaningful.
Children with special educational needs received specific interventions to support the identified target areas. Many of these children received 1:1 tuition and small group teaching throughout the year.
What were the outcomes?
Progress KS1-KS2 for low attainers:
- Reading - 3.04
- Writing - 2.45
- Maths - 4.23
