What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
We have a significantly high proportion of PP and SEN students; we have used innovative literacy practices to close the performance gap with these students and their peers.
What actions did you take?
A range of bespoke interventions. Every subject area identified 3 lines of enquiry and we implemented appropriate interventions to combat the specific barriers students were facing. In addition, mentoring, exam camp, study residentials, tutor time revision sessions, frequent parental meetings and individual action plans all helped to boost our students' grades.
What were the outcomes?
Year 11 P8 score of 0.7 PP 0.67 SEN 0.31. 80% English and maths.
