Happy positive effective learning for all pupils at Goldstar Federation

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

*Accelerating learning for children whose entry data shows very low starting points.

*Engaging parents who find supporting their families a challenge.

*Supporting an extremely deprived community to aspire.

What actions did you take?

*Developed a Can Do culture

*Developed our own learning methods for pupils called “I Shine Learning”

*Staff became “Champions” for individual pupils

*Trained all staff to accelerate children’s learning

*Developed the school environment to be the most welcoming and attractive for everyone

*Developed a staff team and an ethos of welcome, respect and friendship.

*Held weekly coffee morning, where parents receive a breakfast and learn about education and the school

*Simplified all information for parents

*Recognised and promoted children’s talents through ‘academy’ time, a weekly lesson where children identify their strengths and receive tuition

*Helped children engage with a talent agency

*Ran two exciting learning festivals annually, including a community evening which attracts 4,000 people

What were the outcomes?

Children make excellent academic progress – SATs data.

In surveys children and parents wholeheartedly embraced learning in the Federation.
