Gainsborough Primary School
Rigorous assessment & raising attainment processes to improve outcomes
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Parental engagement and support has historically been very low. Poor behaviour at KS1 created a legacy of underachievement, poor behaviour, poor attendance and low outcomes.
What actions did you take?
We have adapted the school structures and roles to meet the changing needs of the school population. We reviewed the pastoral support and behaviour escalation policy, and ensured everyone understood and followed it. We have introduced a clear assessment tracking system, informed by a range of formative and summative assessments, that can be controlled by the teachers. The tracking underpins all planning, interventions and resources to match the needs of the children. We focus on high quality first teaching primarily, and ensure excellent CPD and leadership opportunities match the needs of all staff.
What were the outcomes?
We have secured year on year improving results, with ever increasing progress measures at KS2.
