Chalkhill Primary School 2019/20
School motto: Learning together to aspire and achieve
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Disadvantaged pupils made up a large percentage of the cohort at 41.6 %, and 91% of the cohort did not have English as a first language.
What actions did you take?
In September we carried out core tracking meetings to identify children who were on track to meet expected standards and those that had been identified as low prior attainers. We analysed assessment data from the previous year as well as from the end of KS1.The core tracking meetings were repeated in the Spring term; they were useful in identifying and then tracking the children throughout their time in year 6. Some of the actions we took to close the attainment gap and to accelerate progress included the following:
- Weekly booster sessions
- Revision sessions, revision homework
- 1:1 reading, times table practice, spellings
- Regular parent meetings and updates
- Quality-first teaching including differentiation and challenge
- Educational visits to museums, workshops, theatre shows
What were the outcomes?
73% of the cohort achieved RWM combined in the SATs tests and teacher assessments.
