Chalkhill Primary School 2018/19

School motto: Learning together to aspire and achieve

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Many of the identified prior low-achieving students were boys - all of whom had English as an additional language. We also had high mobility from the end of KS1 to KS2.

What actions did you take?

At the beginning of year 6, we carried out core tracking meetings where children with prior low achievement were identified. We looked at assessment data from the previous year as well as from the end of KS1. The core tracking meetings were useful in identifying and then tracking the children throughout their time in year 6. Some of the actions we took to close the attainment gap included the following:

-Weekly booster sessions

-Revision sessions and revision homework

-1:1 reading, times table practice, spellings etc

-Regular parent meetings and updates

-Quality-first teaching including differentiation and challenge

-Educational visits to museums and theatre shows

What were the outcomes?

The vast majority of identified children achieved age related expectations in RWM combined in the SATs tests and teacher assessments.
