What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

  • Lack of reading resilience, particularly older children
  • Lack of parental support
  • EAL - initial hurdle which prevents progress

What actions did you take?

  • Early intervention through precise identification of needs
  • Learning mentor supporting parents in order to develop strong home-school relationship
  • Grouping children in English and Maths across KS2 to ensure teaching/learning pitched to needs to children

What were the outcomes?

Strong outcomes at KS2 - RWM 80%, progress on 10th percentile of all schools
