What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Attendance of pupil premium pupils as well as attendance of children from the Gypsy/Roma population.

What actions did you take?

  • Increase in attendance initiatives such as weekly attendance assemblies as well as a yearly raffle for 100% attendance. Persistent absentees were assigned a mentor to encourage their attendance to improve.
  • Assistant Head Teacher taught the BAR set alongside two experienced outstanding teachers taking intervention groups.

What were the outcomes?

Boys made more progress in reading (+1.56) comparison to girls in the year group.
