Barham Primary School 2020/21

A personalised approach through rigorous monitoring of achievement of all pupils

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Barham has 79% of pupils who speak English as an additional language. The majority of our in-year joiners are new to English/formal education and come from economically deprived communities.

What actions did you take?

Pupils at Barham achieve well because we put outcomes and personal growth for all pupils at the centre of our work. We have full and detailed knowledge of the needs of all pupils and are innovative in the planning of how needs are met. The wide-ranging interests as well as pupils’ academic and non-academic skills, are developed by the excellent use of external providers working with pupils. Pupils’ wider development is very positive. Our staff work extremely efficiently and effectively to develop confidence and resilience. Through this all staff fully prepare pupils for the next stage in their education and adulthood and are trained well so that they have the skills to develop every aspect of pupils’ development.

What were the outcomes?

KS2 progress is significantly above National and in the highest 20% of all schools in 2019/2018 in all areas.
