Using collaborative learning to increase the performance of all children

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

  • Raising expectations for all.
  • Putting in to place a meaningful and progressive curriculum.
  • Engaging the parent community.
  • Developing expertise and leadership amongst our staff.

What actions did you take?

  • Reviewed the existing curriculum.
  • Implemented a progressive skills and knowledge maps across each curriculum area.
  • Raising the profile of key vocabulary
  • Set up ESOL classes for parents, liaising with the local college.
  • Training up our leaders.
  • Using London as more of a resource.
  • Focus upon developing children's reading skills.

What were the outcomes?

Phonics scores have increased year on year (now at 94%), KS2 progress is strong. Book looks and conferencing demonstrate engagement.
