Using collaborative learning to increase the performance of all children
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
- Raising expectations for all.
- Putting in to place a meaningful and progressive curriculum.
- Engaging the parent community.
- Developing expertise and leadership amongst our staff.
What actions did you take?
- Reviewed the existing curriculum.
- Implemented a progressive skills and knowledge maps across each curriculum area.
- Raising the profile of key vocabulary
- Set up ESOL classes for parents, liaising with the local college.
- Training up our leaders.
- Using London as more of a resource.
- Focus upon developing children's reading skills.
What were the outcomes?
Phonics scores have increased year on year (now at 94%), KS2 progress is strong. Book looks and conferencing demonstrate engagement.
